At 78 years of age, Al Pinard is still a downhill ski instructor. “I’d be better if it was winter,” said Al Pinard. “I’d like to be on skis 12 months a year.”
Some might consider Al’s being a ski instructor four or five days a week at Camp Fortune remarkable, especially after having a total hip replacement about five years ago. Al’s hip replacement hasn’t slowed him down or stopped his activities. He still goes to Europe or Western Canada on a ski holiday each year. And, when he’s not skiing you’ll find him on the water windsurfing, on the links golfing or on the court playing tennis. Al is very thankful to Dr. Paul Kim, his orthopaedic surgeon, for helping him stay so active. “A joint replacement isn’t a limitation, it’s an opportunity to continue to enjoy an active and full life,” says Al.
Al’s wife has also had a joint replacement. She had both knees replaced and says “I feel 20 years younger because of my new knees.”
